Another week and another Featured Stamper!  I am so excited about our featured stamper and if you live in the United States!  Let me introduce you too:

Madeline Morcelo in her own words...

My name is Madeline Morcelo. I'm originally from Puerto Rico but I've been living in USA for 15 years because my husband is a Captain in the US Army. I have five children, one graduated from Architecture, two boys in college, and twin girls in third grade.

I started as a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator in October 2008 and have loved every minute of it!

I was a designer for UStamp with Dawn and Friends for a year, and that experience gave me the opportunity to learn and start my own online classes; that's how INKspirations 4U! were created! I started my online classes a year ago and it's been a pleasant experience. I have made so many wonderful friends and have learned a lot.

I love Stampin' Up! because of the quality of their products and how well everything coordinate…I'm just starting and still needs a lot more to learn, but I love what I do, I love to teach others, and to share with others my creativity!!

Check out the project she is sharing with us today...

This is a weekly feature when I share some of my absolute favorite posts that I have done on my blog.  This is one of the more popular ones...ENJOY!

It's an 'Upsy Daisy' World

I realize that today's post is a little late and I probably won't be posting for the next couple of days.  I promised my neighbors I would babysit their boys and besides I am going to be brave and bring out my very annoying sewing machine.  It works but gives me grief every few seconds I use it but I am determined to use my Vintage Spring fabric from Stampin' Up! and cover my pillow form with it.

Well my favorite stamp set called 'Upsy Daisy' came in my order last week and after an exhausting day yesterday of housework (4 loads of the dishwasher and much more!) I figured I better get to stamping today.  I also thought I would play with the new Distressing Essentials Tool Kit that I got in my order too.  I am not really happy with that card, I figure it is going to take some practice especially with the different color spots it came with.

Also a huge thumbs up to the 'Stamper Camper' who provided the tutorial for these bows.  With a little practice they were easy to do.  So enjoy the cards and I will see you shortly...thanks for stopping by!!!!

This is the one I don't really like as I was trying out the Distressing Essentials Tool Kit.  What do you think?
PS.  The mirror image on both cards was done on purpose...just playing around LOL
Visit everyday for some pretty awesome BIG, HUGE, GIGANTIC, EXCITING announcements coming!  These just might include some BLOG CANDY!

Well this should have gotten out last Friday but better late than never!  Lesson learned, when doing a video make sure you have enough battery charged before you start.  Yikes, I had just finally had some quiet in my house, my friend had come over to use our internet to fix his computer and he came over with his two young boys, so Friday morning was the only time I had to do it.  Here is what I made:

Here is the Banana Bread Recipe (Note:  Gluten Free Adjustments)
  • 1/3c butter or margarine
  • 2/3c sugar white or brown
  • 1/4 tsp soda
  • 1/2c walnuts (optional)
  • 1c or two-three ripe bananas
  • 1 3/4c flour (gluten free version: 1.5c rice and 1/4c tapoica flour; add 1/2 tsp guar gum or xantham gum)
  • 2 eggs
  • 2tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
Cream margarine or butter with sugar, add eggs.  Sift dry ingredients together and add nuts.  Add flour mixture alternately with mashed bananas to creamed mixture, beating well after each.  Pour into greased and floured loaf pan.  Bake at 350 for one hour until knife comes out clear.

My eldest daughter has celiac so when I bake for her these are the adjustments I make.

Now click here to download the PDF file of the tutorial to make the Flower Box and here is the two part video on my Flower Box.

Thanks for stopping by.  I will be making another big announcement sometime this week so be sure to come back every day OR better yet be sure to sign up for daily email updates on my blog.  There will be blog candy involved too!!!

As anyone would know getting time to do anything besides housework is a luxury.  Believe me when I say this is one of those weekends where it was exactly like that so therefore getting to this post really late in the day!  None the less, I did a quick scrapbook page of my daughter’s b-day party she had this weekend.
Yes she already has turned 11 a couple of weeks ago, because school got started around her birthday we always delay the party with her friends.  It was fun, great food, swimming and movies – though -  she does act like she is 14 LOL!
Growing like a weed and to think I still remember the day I found out I was pregnant with her…here is the page I did in MDS…paige11bday-001 [640x480]
Come back tomorrow when we go down memory lane on my blog!!

One of the things that I wanted to do since I started blogging again was to make myself committed to something or someone in the hopes I can influence people on a positive and creative level.  One of my goals was to make new videos that every one would enjoy and learn something new.  Last week was a fun video that my kids did and this week it is back to basics.

This week my tutorial has to do with ‘Stamping on Tiles.’  I have to thank my ‘Sudsol’ sisters who helped me by giving me instructions on how to do this, so I dedicate this video to them!  If you are a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator and want to try Sudsol on a 2 week FREE trial click on the sidebar link to do so.  You will love the inspiration and information provided there!

Just a reminder that I do not blog on weekends AND a HUGE thank you to all those who supported me in my ‘12 Weeks of Christmas Early Bird Registration online Class!’
See you Monday!!

These are the results of the question that I posed to you last Thursday:

What do YOU think the biggest reason you have that stops YOU from being the creative genius you are?

  • Time, most certainly!! Sometimes lack of desire to create, which makes it harder to get BACK to creating when the desire returns!
  • Time. Perhaps I need better time management skills.
  • organization -I have no set place to create and nothing has a set place to be stored. Any ideas w/o adding a room? :-)
  • Lack of confidence in my creativity and abilities
  • hahaha.  Life.  LOL.  It always seems to get in the way.  :(  It truly takes effort to MAKE time for yourself instead of finding it!
  • This is one result I was NOT expecting:  There are so many answers for this, but in my personal case, working so hard to accomplish a goal and then having others CASING your ideas without giving you any credit!

Thank you to ALL who responded to my question and that gives me ideas on how I can respond to them.

Don’t forget:  LAST DAY to sign up for my 12 Weeks of Christmas Online Course – Early Bird Registration ends TONIGHT!  ONLY $29.95

Isn’t that awesome!!!  I cannot wait to try it, again can you imagine what this would be like with a Christmas theme, or punch some of the sides out and add a candle (fake one that is) so it glows.  Cool!
Angel has generously donated her time to put this project together and completed a tutorial for us.  Simply stop by at ‘Making Something Cute’ for more details.
Angel-thanks for sharing with us!

Going Down Memory Lane

I thought that maybe it would be fun to go back to some of my favorite posts and this is one of them.  I hope it inspires you!  This was originally posted on February 4, 2011.

I have mentioned before that inspiration can come from anywhere and everywhere when we need something for our scrapbooking and card making needs.

Recently I received a magazine in the mail called Canadian Home Trends and I was so impressed with the color combination they had on the front cover that I just had to make a card with them.

I don't know if you can recognize the colors on the cover but I quickly ran to my stash of card stock and they perfectly matched our Rich Razzleberry and Certainly Celery so this is what I came up with.

And guess what you can download the tutorial HERE!!!

See you tomorrow.

the power of a business card

I am not a writer, I cannot tell a story very well, my sentence structure is bad, my grammar even worse, but my spelling is not too bad.  However the horrific and tragic events of 9/11, that are still felt to this day a most unusual and surprising little tidbit came out of one of the survivor’s stories.  It was over a business card given during the time that the last thing on your mind would be to give your business card when you should be thinking about is saving your life and others.
I was watching Global News National Edition last night during supper and they were showing a piece on two of the survivors that should not have survived.  These two were only two of four who survived that were above the impact zone of Tower 1.  One of these men were Canadian and the other American.  I am not going to get into details of their survival, that story is too long to share here and now, but they got out!  There story is special, they became blood brothers, got down the stairs and made it out in just the nick of time.
Not only was this a miracle in and of itself but strangely the one survivor gave the other one his business card as they went down the stairs.  Now why, in that time of stress would he even think of doing that or even to have one on him at that time?  I don’t know but this is where mystery reasons that no one can answer is revealed.  You see, when these two made it out of the building, with all of the dust, dirt, derbies and confusion they ended up getting separated.  Now remember, they became blood brothers and committed to stay in each others lives after that, but that seemed near impossible now.
That is, of course, when the Canadian survivor remembered, that he had been given that business card.  That is how they managed to find each other AFTER this awful, awful day.  They reconnected after the confusion, to continue being blood brothers and remain close friends after all of this time.
So whatever you do, whether it is for business, or connecting with people you don’t know, DO NOT ever doubt, question, or ever worry about the impactable power of the business card.  You don’t know who’s life you might touch!
Here is the link of the story I am talking about.  PLEASE NOTE:  The embed link that Global National gave me was for their whole episode NOT the part 3 like I thought.  Please FAST FORWARD to 17:22 to get to the clip.  If this is still taking to long to load then please let me know then I will change it to just include the link.  Thank You!

This also inspired me to redo my business card.  Take a look!
business card-001 [640x480]
I just wanted to say, on a personal note, that I will never forget the horror of that day, it has impacted my life as if I too lost a loved one that day.  Along with the loss of my personal loved ones, I will always make sure that my children will, never, ever forget.  I want them to understand just how this impacted all of our lives and how, sadly, it still does as those that are still dying today, from the after effects from that day.
To all of those who died, survived, and still suffering, my family and I will always have you in our thoughts and prayers.  God Bless to you all!

Your Thoughts?

Hello one and all…I don’t know about all of you but the heat here in Edmonton has completely wiped me out Sick smile.  On top of it, I have made it my goal to help out and volunteer more at their school and I swear we need to spend more money in our schools and actually get air conditioning in there.  That in and of itself is another story, but just to show you how versatile SU products are here is a picture of what I did using our paper cutter…
