Embracing Change and Happy New Year

Well you are probably thinking that this post will be all joyful and possibly insincere but it's not.  I checked my email today and a sweet kind person left a message for me on one of my blog posts and though it thrilled me in one way it also saddened me in another.  That's because of a huge amount of guilt as I have not been posting a lot lately.  A lot of that has to do with the time of year, illness which has hit my family hard and not realizing my blog actually has an impact on a lot of people  :)

When you read this post chances are it is already the start of 2011 which is followed in large part by people making New Year's Resolutions.  I for one am not one of those people but by the end of this post I just might be LOL but being ill during the holiday season has given me a chance to do a lot of thinking.  Thinking of how my year has been, what I would like to do differently in the new year and scared, concerned and excited about what could happen in 2011.

There is a wonderful blog by Ali Edwards that I was just recently introduced to, not because of her craftiness, but because she gives her 'years' a word she tries to live by during that year.
"One Little Word
A single word can be a powerful thing. It can be the ripple in the pond that changes everything. It can be sharp and biting or rich and soft and slow. From my own personal experience, it can be a catalyst for enriching your life.
In 2006, I began a tradition of choosing one word for myself each January — a word that I can focus on, mediate on, and reflect upon as I go about my daily life. My words have included play, peace, vitality, nurture, and story. These words have each become a part of my life in one way or another. They've been imbedded into who I am, and into who I'm becoming. They've been what I've needed (and didn't know I needed). They've helped me to breathe deeper, to see clearer, and to grow.
My word for 2011 is light. "  Ali Edwards click here

With much thought my word is CHANGE

Webster's Dictionary defines Change as this:

Definition of CHANGE
: the act, process, or result of changing: as a : alteration change in the weather> b : transformation change> changes>

This is a true fact, it is something we deal with day to day and it is something we have to embrace whether we want to or not.  I use to hate that word but over time (years) change is not such a bad thing.  There will be some upcoming changes that I know I will not embrace like the fact that soon another relative of mine will die of lung cancer (it could be any day now) or on a much brighter note as much as I love my kids they will be going back to school on Monday (yippee!)

Upcoming changes with Stampin' Up! Having our wonderful Sale-a-bration that starts on January 24th.  I am beyond thrilled about that.

I am excited about working with a fellow demonstrator Tanya Conley, click here to join her in her weight loss journey for this year.  I too have 40 lbs to lose by Convention in July (see I told you already a New Year's Resolution).

So to make a seemingly long story short I am going to embrace the word Change this year.  I will blog on a more regular basis, try to improve upon my projects, lose some weight and continue to inspire others.

I will leave you with a couple of MDS pages I did of our Christmas and with all of the sincerest and bestest wishes (is there such a word?) for 2011.

Happy New Year!!!!

PS.  I forgot to tell you that one of my photos was featured on another blog called Casual Blogger Community.  Check out my photo here

Brrrr baby it's cold

Well I have to tell you it is very cold with blizzard conditions here in Edmonton today.  Makes me grateful that I don't have to go out until tonight!  My girls have their school Christmas Concert this evening and since I am running a day behind my blog I figured I better get to work and show you those Christmas tags that I made.  But here is a picture of the weather out there today (hope it's warmer where you are!!)

Pretty bad heh?!  Now these Christmas tags were a lot of fun to make and I took advantage of our new owl punch.  Too much fun--if you want a tutorial for these tags leave a comment below and let me know.

Don't forget my blog candy draw will be done tonight and tomorrow the lucky winner will be announced.  See you tomorrow!!

Christmas card share

Well I didn't get a lot done yesterday as I spent half the day at the hospital helping my friend out and frankly all I wanted to do when I got home was have some fresh coffee, get into my pajamas and just veg!  Today and with Christmas coming ever so quickly have decided to put my nose to the grindstone and get to work on making more Christmas tags.  Already having presents to wrap and gifts to mail I need to make sure they have names on them.  Besides it freezing here and I don't feel like going out in it--LOL.

In the meantime I am showing you a card I made for a Sudsol Chat and Challenge a little while ago to work on those tags (they will be on my blog tomorrow).  This card is using our Candy Cane Designer Series Fabric, which I love, (I'm insane for our new fabric line, wait till you see what comes out in the new mini in January--Woo Hoo) and some buttons for added effect.  Take a look...

Oh yeah and the 'Gifts of Peace' stamp set.  Well off I go and make sure you leave a comment on the post below to win one of those cozies and I will see you tomorrow!

Stamping on Candles

Well I finally did it, I finally figured out how to stamp on candles.  Think it's complicated--not hardly!!  Stamp on tissue paper then adhere it with your heat tool and waalaa.  I used the Serene Snowflakes stamp set, Jolliest Time of the Year stamp set, Tempting Turquoise and Real Red Classic Inks.  I of course used our Basic Rhinestones for a little bling.  This was my first attempt at this technique and since it was so super easy I making a bunch of these for Christmas gifts.  See you tomorrow!

Classes UPDATE

Just wanted to let you know that if you live in the Edmonton and surrounding area that I have just updated my CLASSES page. Go take a look and see what classes I am offering for the next couple of weekends. Busy, busy, busy! I bet I am not the only one ha ha ha!

Scenic Season Blessing

I have always preferred the homemade card as I appreciate the personal touch and thought, however, this year, I have made more cards than I have ever had to before.  I'm not complaining, mind you, as I get such great enjoyment in doing so but when you do approx 50 of them and I am still not sure I am finished; it is time for a coffee break.

So this one is easy peasy (is that such a word?) as it uses the tone on tone technique.  Simply put use the same ink color as your card stock and when you use Stampin' Up! card stock and inks you can be rest assured that won't be a problem.  Take a look...

On this card I used our Pear Pizzaz card stock and classic ink pad.  Stamped on Whisper White card stock with the Scenic Season stamp set.  Add a basic rhinestone for a little dazzle and your done.  A great way to spend the time.  See you tomorrow!

Teacher's Christmas Gifts

I don't know about you, however, the closer we get to Christmas, the busier I get.  I haven't even started my baking yet (can't seem to find a decent candy thermometer anywhere, any suggestions?).  I am nearing the end of my 12 weeks till Christmas newsletter, only two weeks left, and I am so excited to be sharing those two projects with my newsletter subscribers.  However, I have two children who are in school and there of course lye's the problem of what to give the teachers for Christmas.  Of course the card part is easy but what do you give the teacher that would be unique and different from all the other kids gifts.  Stampin' Up! of course!  I have mentioned in earlier posts another wonderful demonstrator by the name of Becky Roberts.  She has inspired this unique Christmas present for me in her 12 days till Christmas tutorial, but beware, I will be doing one for next year so keep an I out for it!

Sadly I ate more of these chocolates than I used so that means I have to find more time on the treadmill!  LOL we will see how that goes.  Take a look at what I made and tell me what you think!

Tomorrow I will be showcasing the card that I made to go with it.  Have a great day and I will see you tomorrow.
