Pastel Embossing

Good morning everyone, I hope you had a great weekend I know I had one. I attended a special demo meeting Saturday morning called 'Diva Day'. It's a special day for special demos and it was a lot of fun.

We were served breakfast, then we did several make n takes. We were shown some cards that Tamye Dunbar did at Founders Circle last week. I am going to use those for my Stamp a Stack in October. Way too much fun...

I digress and back to reality. I did this card for a challenge recently on yahoo. The late night Stampers group challenge 38. We had to do something with our pastels and I having discovered how wonderful they are to work with and the color intensity is so fantastic..well anyways, it was intense.

I call this pastel embossing and it really isn't that difficult to do and not as time intensive as I thought so here is a tutorial for you.

1. I used the Cameo Coral CS for the base, this time however, I cut the card on the 8.5 edge at 4.25"
2. Take the Bermuda Bay CS and cut accordingly. Make sure you have enough for the saying.
3. Using your Whisper White CS take the Boy Beary Stamp and stamp with black stazon.
4. Now take your Versa Marker and color in the bear. Quickly coloring in with your pastel colors.
5. Now take you Versa Marker again and go over what you just pasteled but make sure you clean the pen between color changes.
6. Make sure you work quickly here as you will cover the picture with clear embossing powder then heat.
7. Use your modern label punch to punch out the saying. Attach it to the extra Bermuda Bay that you edged with the scallop edge punch with snail adhesive.
8. Attach that piece with stampin' dimensionals.
9. Use the Bermuda Bay Polka Dot Grosgrain Ribbon and tie a bow with it.
10. Then attach the bear, then your saying and your down.

I actually really like this card and I am impressed at how bright the pastels are. I hope you like and want to try it. Until tomorrow have a great day.

BAB Santa Magnet

Again today my wonderful upline Nicky Marling inspired me. This is just one of many wonderful things you can do with our BAB line. Not just on cards, scrap books, how about fridge magnets for your childrens' class rooms at Christmas time. That is what I am going to do is make a whole bunch of these for my daughters schools, Sparks and Guide troops. You know all those business magnets you don't use (our Stampin' Up! cards are the exception to the rule here!) cut them up and glue them on the back. Already flat and ready to go, just another way I am trying to save you money. PS. my upline showed me that trick too!

So this is what you need:

1. Real Red, Black, Whisper White, Creamy Caramel, Glorious Green Card Stock.
2. In the mini catalogue you need the BAB Stampin' Up! Bigz Die Stampin' Up! Bear, Stampin' Up! Beary Merry.
3. Use Creamy Caramel CS for the bear and use the other colors for the Beary Merry die. Use the Tomboy or Two-way glue pen to attach pieces.
4. Add Dazzling Diamonds where you want to put them on the Santa Bear.
5. Turn the Santa Bear over and attach the piece of magnet to Santa's head and there you have it.

One fridge magnet done and many more to go. Have lots of fun with this one, I know I will be soon too.

Two by the Day

Another wonderful inspiriation from my upline Nicky Marling. She is a veritable catalogue of ideas. At least I think so.

I apologize I have been ill recently and haven't had the chance to call friends, blog or much of anything, but this project was just to cool not to share. I will give a quick little tutorial for this project.

1. Take a coffee filter and on a plastic paper plate add drops of our refill ink of any color you want. Spray the ink with water then cover it with the coffee filter.
2. Make sure you rumple the filter then dry it with the dryer that we use for embossing. Be careful not to burn yourself or the filter, be prepared it will dry quickly.
3. Burnish the edge of the Old Olive CS and take a piece of Kraft CS for the stamping.
4. We used the 'Thoughts and Prayers' stamp set using Chocolate Chip Classic Stampin' Pad.

Soot Technique

I have to tell you it was a wonderful weekend hanging out with my upline Nicky Marling. Her class this weekend was sooooo awesome that I just have to share some of her projects this week. I would like to claim that these are my original ideas, but sadly, no :(

Would I make more of them and are they a jumping off point for similar cards and scrap booking----a resounding YES!

I am not a fan of playing with fire. I burnt my fingers when I was a little girl--I learned my lesson--or so I thought! However, this technique left me no choice but to burn my fingers yet again. Sigh!

But look at the results and it is soooo easy to do. Okay Nicky I hope I get the colors right but here goes nothing:

1. Cut your basic card base in Very Vanilla CS.
2. Cut the Soft Suede CS by 4 x 3.25" and scrunch lots!
3. Cut a piece of Pretty in Pink CS by 3 1/8 x 2 1/8".
4. Cut a piece of Glossy White CS by 2 x 3".
5. Now take your brayer and with Tempting Turquoise Classic Stampin' Pad bray all over the glossy white paper.
6. Light a candle, take the colored glossy paper and run it over the flame until the paper is black.
7. Take any stamp you want and just place the stamp on the blackened card stock in any pattern you want. Just make sure every time you lift off that you clean the stamp before stamping again.
8. When your done take a matte finish spray (any craft store) to set.
9. Take your card base,the 'En Francais' background stamp and stamp with Sahara Sand Classic Stampin' Pad. Stamp the card base.
10. Attach the card with Snail Adhesive and your done.

I really liked how the the Sahara Sand Classic Ink added such a touch of elegance to the card. I found it really pretty. I hope you enjoy this card and I shall see you tomorrow.

Birthday Party Busyness!!!

Goodness!!!! It has been a hectic several days. My daughter wanted to have a mini Birthday Party with her friends from school last week and I don't have a problem with that but the timing!! Her birthday always lands at an awkward time of the year--on the Labour Day Long Weekend and it is always hard to have her friends over. So this year we decided to do it after the school starts etc. and we did. So she begged and my brain went into overload trying to figure out about how many kids, invitations, food and timing. I have the Build A Bear set and figured this was as good as time as any to put it to good use. So I did!

I did the invitations with the BAB Beary Best Friends and Beary Best Wishes stamp set. I stamped them with our Classic Black Ink stamp pad and our Stampin' Pastels. Too much fun if you ask me. I did 8 invitations in an hour including cutting time!!!!

As a project for the kids I decided to use our 'Big Shot' and the BAB die cuts.
I used the Stampin' Up! Bigz Die in Stampin' Up! Bear. The Stampin' Up! Positively Embosslits Dies, Stampin' Up! Bigz die in Stampin' Up! Beary Essentials. Stampin' Up! Beary Girl sizzlets die all with the Positively Prints Designer Series Paper.

The kids just absolutely loved it and they all said they had a lot of fun making these cards to take home. (That was their goody treat to take home).

Ask me would I do that again? In an instant! Would I let them use my Stampin' Write Markers? No, but you live and learn! lol.

It was something different to do, the parents loved it and why not I say.

Halloween Treats

Here is your halloween sweet treat. I did this card in my stamp class this past weekend. Everyone loved it and it was hard to stop eating the candy before we put it in the card, he he he. This was actually my first attempt playing with the sweet treat cups and I think it turned out well. Here is the tutorial:

1. Take a piece of Black CS and use for your card base. 4.25" x 5.5"
2. Take the 1 3/4" circle punch and punch a hole anywhere on the card that you want the sweet treat cup.
3. Cut a piece of Cast-A-Spell DSP at 5.25" 3" and attach it to the base with your snail adhesive.
4. Take your circle punch and punch out the overlap of the DSP from the whole.
5. Take a 3" x 3" piece of Pumpkin Pie CS and stamp it with our 'Sweet Centers' stamp set. you will need to use the Staz-on Black ink pad to be sure of coverage.
6. Punch out the centre with our 1 3/4" circle punch.
7. put 4 mini glue dots on the edge of the sweet treats cup and place the large stamped image over top.
8. Take the cup and attach it to the hole on the base of the card by removing the backing off of the treat cup.
9. Put your candy in and take a 2 x 2" piece of DSP with mini glue dots to the inside of the card so your candy doesn't fall out!!!
10. Take the punch out circle piece and attach it with our dimensional on the other part of the card.
11. Take a 4" piece of Black Grosgrain Ribbon and tie a not. Attach it to the card with a mini glue dot.
12. You are done and ready to share your sweet treat. See you tomorrow!
    

Took a Day Off!

Hey everyone, I took a day off yesterday to spend a day with a good friend, whom I haven't really seen for a very long time. To which we both love Ikea and we just had to stop in and take a look around. I was actually looking for a container that I saw in the mini catalogue and would you believe it they had sold out of it two weeks before I got their as it was a discontinued item. Arrrgggh, darn thing!

So I digress, and could further lament, but I shan't. I promised some friends that I would put this trifold card on my blog yesterday, sorry for the delay, but I have it now and therefore a tutorial will follow.

This was an entry into a SDC #60 on our Sudsol site (demonstrators click on the link to get a free two week trial) and let me tell you, you better have some coffee before you start as it is a little tricky.

Tutorial:

1. First, cut a piece of card stock to 101/2" x 51/2". In landscape orientation, score in from the left at 13/4" and at 31/2". Then score in from the right at 13/4" and at 31/2".
2. Now make a CUT at 11/2" down from the top edge and 11/2" up from the bottome edge and your cut line will run Only from the first score mark, to the last score mark. You do this with a Hobby Blade and a straightedge.
3. Fold parts back and forward to look like the picture I posted.
4. Fold the card back to lie flat, and start embellishing panels. Choose any DSP, I used Thoroughly Modern. Then I used the 'Great Friends' stamp set to decorate the inside and back panel.
5. The front panel I used the 'Pretties Kit' in bulk, 'Button Latte' in bulk and attached using mini dots. I would suggest when decorating the flower, hold it up with a pencil and spray it with glue spray. Then add the 'Fine Cosmos' in Turquoise and attach.
6. I used our 'Butterfly' Punch to add the little details on the inside.

7. Measure the panels who want to layer then subtract 1/8" for the layers.

That's it for that card. I think it's very pretty myself.

Now the next card I made was for a Chat & Challenge entry that I did yesterday on our Sudsol website. As you can see it is the Halloween Card.

1. Take your standard card base and fold in half. I used our Pumkin Pie CS, then for the next layer I used Black CS. Cut that layer 4 x 51/4".
2. Take a piece of Cast-A-Spell DSP for the third layer at these dimensions 3" x 5" and add a couple of our silver brads with the 3/16" punch. Attach all to the card base but make sure you leave a spot in the middle of the DSP to allow for the pumpkin to be set in.
3. Punch 3 large oval Pumpkin Pie DSP then sponge them with Pumpkin Pie Classic Stampin Ink. Attach together with your snail adhesive.
4. Punch with the 'Modern Label' punch Garden Green CS to make them stem, add the hemp tie knot. Insert finished pumpkin behind the DSP then attach behind the stem a stampin dimensional.
5. If you want to use glitter, design around the pumpkin with our 2-way glue pen and dazzling diamonds.

Halloween Gift Card

I was inspired by a wonderful Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Andrea Walford. It is a Halloween gift card set.

It didn't take me long to make it and I am thrilled to case her Christmas one. I will be making plenty of those these year!

I did this project on Saturday getting prepared for my class yesterday so today I am all projected out. Whew!!!

Here's the tutorial:

1. Take a 6 x 9" piece of Cast-A-Spell DP and score it at 3 3/4" and 7 1/2".
2. Rotate the DP 90 degrees and score it at 1". If the DP has a pattern then make sure that you pay attention to it's orientation before you start scoring.
   
3. Fold along the crease lines with a bone folder. The 1" flap that you scored along the bottome of the DP will be divided into three rectangular-shaped sections by the intersecting score lines. Cut out the left and right rectangles.
4. On the remaining bottom 1" rectangular-shaped flap, round the two corners with a 3/16" corner rounder punch.
5. Lay your DP on the table in front of you so that the largest flap is towards the left, the small 1 1/2" wide flap is on the right and the 1" rectangular shaped flap with the rounded corners is at the bottom.
6. Fold the large left flap inwards. Place some Snail Adhesive on the small right flap and fold that inwards. Place some Snail adhesive on the small 1" bottom flap and fold that upwards. You've now created your "envelope".
7. Rotate the envelope so that the top opening is towards the left and the bottom is towards the right and run it through a paper crimper. You may need to run it through twice.
8. Punch a half circle in the front of the envelope using a 1 1/4" circle punch. Set aside.
9. Take a Top Note die cut out of Pumpkin Pie CS using the Big Shot and Stampin' Up!'s Top Note die. Fold the top note die in half along the long side. Punch a hole in each bottom corner with a 1/16" hand held circle punch.
10. Stamp a greeting on the front (towards the bottome right edge) in Basic Black Classic Ink. Use a Stamp-a-ma-jig if necessary (which I LOVE because it makes your stamping so perfect!).
11. Insert a silver brad into each hole that you punched in Step 9.
12. Wrap a 16" piece of Basic Black Grosgrain ribbon around the folded Top Note die and tie the ribbon in a knot. Trim the ends.
13. Take a 3 1/8" x 4 5/8" piece of Whisper White CS and Stamp the pumpkin from the Holiday Best (Hostess Level 1) stamp set, in Pumpkin Pie, and Garden Green Stampin' Write Markers.
14. Mat the Whisper White CS piece onto a 3 1/4" x 4 3/4" piece of Pumpkin Pie CS using Snail adhesive.
15. Punch out a tab from a piece of Cast-A-Spell DP using the Round Tab punch. Fold the tab in half and center and stick it to the top of the Pumpkin Pie CS tag using Snail Adhesive.
16. Insert the tag into the DP envelope pouch and then slide it into the Top Note die "top". You're done!

MDS Christmas Card

Good morning,

Here is yet another example of what our wonderful new 'My Digital' software can do.

This is a regular card size and using one of the templates being offered, I just added one of our stamps to it. Then I am done.

I am going to be one of those hybrid scrappers that will utilize the software then add some personal touches to it.
It is very easy to use and will get utilized often.

I have to start preparing for my stamp class this weekend so I will see all of you again on Monday. Remember the date to start ordering MDS will start on October 1. I suspect I will be placing a lot of orders first thing that morning, he he he.

'My Digital Studio'-my copy is here!

FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My Digital Studio came yesterday and I have done a little playing. These is just using one of their templates I used. It was so easy, just drop and click the pictures in. Today I am starting a 8 x 8 book of my late father, I will post those as well.

Challenge 411

I didn't exactly feel inspired today especially since I am starting to feel guilty for letting the house work get so far behind. Trying to plan fundraisers, getting kids signed up for Girl Guides and Sparks. You know life!

But with this challenge I did the dimensions as asked per the sketch but I was still stumped. Don't know why but I though about the dryer sheet method which I only have used once before, and I had the Merry & Bright rubons which I bought to use for another project. Yet again, since then it just sat on my shelf.

So lets see what I can do with them. It's a little different and I can see where I can make improvements on it, but eh, every card is special.

Here is the tutorial:

1. Cut the base with Soft Suede CS 8.5 x 5.5"
2. Whisper White CS and used the Petals a Plenty Impressions folder
3. Cut the Ruby Red CS out of the Level 1 Hostess DSP Pack 3 4.25 x 2.75"
   
4. Take Soft Suede and cut into 4 x 2.5"
5. Use the Merry & Bright Rubbons and use any saying you want, I also used the snowflakes for the bottom part
6. Take a can of spray adhesive and spray the piece then put the dryer sheet over top, flatten.
7. You may have to spray again, however, and put dazzling diamonds all over top. Tap the excess off.
8. Attach the ribbon and hardware around the piece.
   
9. Then assemble as per picture with your snail.

Waa Laa!!!

It's Halloween Time

I have to tell you, I get such a kick out of these design challenges. This is my entry for the website Sudsol (if your a demonstrator click on the link below for a free 2 week trial) Design Challenge #59.

My husband is starting to think I am crazy as I am spending a lot of time on my laptop while trying to do everything else. lol! But I get so many inspirational ideas that I can't help myself and I can't wait to share them with you in my classes.

So here is my tutorial for this card:

1. Cut your cardbase with Pumpkin Pie CS 8.5 x 5.5"
2. Cut your Black CS into 4 x 4.75". Take your Stampin' Up! crimper and crimp the CS
3. Cut the Orchid Opulence CS into 3.75 x 4.5"
4. Cut Hunter Green CS 2.75 x 3.5" then cut the Whisper White CS into 2.5 x 3.25"
5. Take your Stampin' Up! wide oval punch and punch 3 times out of your extra Pumpkin Pie CS.
6. Use your Stampin' Up! modern label punch and punch out the stem from the Hunter Green CS
7. Next use a sponge and Stampin' Up! Classic Ink Pad in Pumpkin Pie and sponge the edge of the three large ovals. It gives definition to the card stock.
8. To attach, take your snail and snail the middle piece then add the other two to the middle of the centre piece.
9. Attach the stem to the height you want it and for decoration tie a bow with Stampin' Up!' hemp twine.
10. Attach all pieces as shown.
11. For the saying I used the 'Holiday Best' stamp set (Hostess Level 3). I used the Stampin' Right Markers in Pumpkin Pie, Hunter Green and Black on the stamp and stamp on Whisper White CS.
12. Take your scalloped oval punch and punch the saying out.
13. Take your wide oval punch and punch out a piece of Hunter Green CS and attach the two pieces together. Then attach to the base of the card.

Cold & Cuddly

This is my entry for the chat & challenge #193 that was done today on Sudsol. These challenges are a lot of fun and give me something different to show you. If your a demonstrator, and have not tried out Sudsol (you have too!) click on the link on the right side and start having fun!

Tutorial:

1. Bashful Blue CS in 4.25 x 11"
2. Christmas Cocoa DSP 4 x 5 1/4"
3. Christmas Cocoa DSP 2 1/8 x 5 1/2"
4. Bashful Blue CS 2 3/4" x 3 1/2"
5. Whisper White CS 2 1/2 x 3 1/4"
6. Fold in half #1
7. Attach #3 to #2 then attach a strip of Whisper White ribbon to both
8. Attach #7 to base of card
9. Use the Cold & Cuddly stamp set and stamp on #4. I used Stampin' Up!'s Classic ink pads in black for the sign post and the penguin. Use the Stampin' Write Markers in colors real red, chocolate chip, creamy caramel for the heart and coffee cup
10. Take a blender pen and use 'Pretty in Pink' color from our Stampin' Pastels to color the cheeks.
11. Take the snow flake stamp from the 'Christmas Punch' (Hostess Level 2) and stamp with the Classic ink pad in Bashful Blue.
12. Use the corner rounder punch on the stamped image and on #4. Attach to card.
13. Stamp the saying onto Whisper White CS with the Classic ink pad in Bashful Blue.
14. Punch the saying out with the Modern Label punch, attach a couple of our silver brads and attach the saying with Stampin' Dimensionals.

An Omage

So one of challenges I missed happen to desire a stamp set that we love, but just haven't used for a very long time. Baroque Motifs is just that stamp set. I saw a card using the stamp set that I just had to case. So I asked Judy Elting permission to do so (see her version on her blog on the links on the left) and she said YES!

Tutorial

• Take Bashful Blue CS in half at the 5.5" mark.

• Whisper White CS and the Delightful Decorations stamp set and stamp one in Old Olive, Crushed Curry ink.
• Take the new ornament punch and punch out the stamped images.
• Take the 'Merry and Bright' rub ons, and rub on real red CS. Again use the ornament punch.
• Attach ornaments with snail then tie with linen thread to make bows or go straight up.
• Attach the Bermuda Bay Polka Dot ribbon and your done.

411 Challenge

I was attempting to enter a 411 Challenge, however, I didn't read all the way through so I didn't get the dimensions right. Poop! However, I was impressed with the way it turned out. I haven't done a lot of layers for some time and I wanted to use my new 'Christmas Cocoa Specialty' DSP (Page 21 holiday mini). So I combined the DSP with Soft Suede CS for this one.

Tutorial

1. Cut Soft Suede CS from 11" into two to 5.5"
   
2. Cut Whisper White CS to 4" x 5.25."
3. Cut DSP to 3.75 x 5."
4. Cut Soft Suede card stock to 2.75 x 3.5."
5. Cut Whisper White CS to 2.5 x 3.25."
   
6. Using the 'Delightful Decorations' stamp set (Page 24, holiday mini), use the circle stamp with Soft Suede ink and stamp the bottom half of the large Whisper White in any pattern.
7. Rip the DSP to have it go 3/4 of the way down onto the Whisper White CS.
8. Take a sponge and sponge Bordering Blue ink around the white cs.
9. Take the 'Christmas Punch' stamp set (Hostess Level 2), use the snowflake stamp with Bashful Blue ink and stamp all over the white.
10. Snail them together and attach to the main white CS
11. Attach the Whisper White Organza ribbon near the bottom
    
12. Use Bordering Blue ink and the Merry Christmas stamp from 'Delightful Decorations' stamp set, stamp, use the 3/4" circle punch, attach with Stampin' Dimensionals.
13. Take the Very Vanilla hardware and attach around the punched sentiment.
14. Use Stampin' Dimensionals to attach the Whisper White CS to base.
